Prof. Dr. Andreas Schutze
Prof. Dr. Andreas Schütze is an expert in Sensors and Instrumentation with emphasis smart metering systems for chemical parameters in both the gas and the liquid phase. The main applications are in the security technology (leak detection, fire detection) as well as in the field of energy technology (optimized ventilation systems, condition monitoring of wind turbines) and in odour measurement.
He studied physics at the RWTH Aachen and in 1994 received his Doctorate in Applied Physics at the University of Giessen with a study on multi-sensor systems for ventilation optimization in automobiles.
Since 2000 he has been the Professor for measurement technology in the field of mechatronics at Saarland University, Germany
Professor Eugene Gamaly

Eugene Gamaly received his M.Sc. from the Moscow State University (1958), Ph.D. from the Russian Federal Nuclear Centre (1970), Dr. Sc. and Professorship in Physics from the P. N. Lebedev Physical Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences (1980). He worked for the Russian Federal Nuclear Centre (1958-1973) as a leading theoretician in the fields of high temperature/density plasma physics, and nuclear fission and fusion. In 1973 he joined P. N. Lebedev Physical Institute by invitation of Prof. Basov, Nobel Laureate. His work within Prof Basov’s team (1973-1992) featured the pioneering researches on the basics of laser-induced-fusion and on laser-matter interactions. Since 1992 Prof. Gamaly has been working for the Laser Physics Centre, the Australian National University in Canberra. His fields of expertise include laser-matter interactions with solid and plasma, high temperature/density physics and material transformations. Gamaly published a book (2011), 25 book chapters, and more than 300 scientific papers
Professor Andrei Rode

Andrei Rode graduated Moscow State Universiy in 1975, PhD in Quantum Electronics, Lebedev Institute of Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences in 1987. Moved as a Postdoc to the Laser Physics Centre at the Australian National University in 1989, where now is a Professor. Scientific interests and expertise include: Interaction of laser radiation with matter, laser ablation and laser deposition of films, laser produced plasma and related phenomena; Transient non-equilibrium states of matter in extreme conditions of ultra-short high-power laser pulses; nanoclusters and their properties formed in a laser ablated plume; Nonlinear optical films, their properties and applications in photonics, communication, and in optical memory. Published 17 book chapters and about 200 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Dr. rer. nat. Dipl.-Phys. Keming Du

Dr. rer. nat. Dipl.-Phys. Keming Du has being worked with development of laser technology in contract of industry since 1985 beginning from high power CO2 lasers, through diode lasers and to diode pumped solid state lasers. From 1985 to 2001 he worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology, as Project manager, group leader and department head. In 2001 he founded the EdgeWave GmbH, which offers innovative solutions in field compact diode pumped solid state lasers for different applications. He has more than 70 patents or patent applications and more than 100 publications. He is the winner of the 1st prize of the “Innovation award laser technology 2010” granted by AKL (Arbeitskreis Lasertechnik e.V.) and ELI (European Laser Institute) in May 2010. In Mai 2012 his project team “Pikoflat” group won the 1st prize of the ” Innovation award laser technology 2012″ granted by AKL (Arbeitskreis Lasertechnik e.V.) and ELI (European Laser Institute). Based on InnoSlab amplifier his project team received the Stifterverband‘s Science Award 2012. For the excellent works in the field of short and ultra-short pulse lasers based on InnoSlab laser and InnoSlab amplifier his project team won the 2. Leibinger price 2012.
Dr. Brian Baird
Brian Baird received the B.S. degree in Physics from the University of Oregon in 1980, his M.S. in Physics from the University of Washington in 1984 and his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the Oregon Graduate Institute of Science and Technology in 1997. He is the founder and Managing Director of Summit Photonics LLC, a photonics engineering services firm established in 2008, specializing in solid state photonics, laser processing systems, and advanced laser processing solutions for device manufacturers. From 1988 to 2008, he worked at Electro Scientific Industries where he contributed to the research and development of successive generations of laser processing systems. From 1984 to 1988, he worked at Lockheed Aeronautical Systems Company where he was responsible for development of advanced optical sensor technology for government aircraft programs, including the YF-22. Dr. Baird currently holds thirty patents. He is a member of the Optical Society of America, Laser Institute of America, and SPIE. He currently serves on the Applications Program Committee of the Advanced Solid State Laser Congress of the Optical Society of America.
